We've been criticized a bit for being too negative, so allow us to say this up front: what a great episode of Heroes!

Via a series of flashbacks, it was cool to learn more about Meredith's background, about the evolution of Sylar and about the basis for the Angela vs. Arthur feud. We loved every second of it.

What did everyone think of tonight's Heroes episode?

We didn't think it advanced the story line very far... though hopefully it did - finally! - rid the series of Maya once and for all. Review the hour now via our detailed recap. We'll update it with new quotes and photos as they come in.

The latest Heroes episode worked well because it remained true to the developing, constant narrative: a gathering of villains to serve the purposes of Pinehearst's boss, Arthur Petrelli.

In that context, we watched Daphne interact with (future husband?) Parkman for the first time, along with Sylar express actual feelings for Angela. Who woulda thought?!?

Because we love Heroes and wish to see it reach its full potential, we're critical of the show from time to time - but let us proudly say of this episode:

What an ending!

The last few minutes answered at least one nagging question from the season, while also laying the groundwork for an interesting story line, one that can provide a constant theme and narrative throughout the rest of the chapter, something sorely needed.

There's a problem when Heroes leaps into the future: the show can make anything up because, hey, that future is never gonna actually take place anyway!

Cases in point: Daphne is now married to Matt?!? And working with an evil Claire?!? If this is anything like the Season One episode, Five Years Gone, we'll never actually learn how these developments take place; we're just expected to accept them as fact so the show, in its present day form, can save us from this supposedly fatal future.

Do you see the trouble with this logic? The lazy writing involved?

We try to watch with an open mind, and we maybe the show will take us on a path this season that reasonably leads to a potential future such as the one depicted in "I Am Become Death," but we're not hopeful. Read the full episode recap now.
